The announcement this week that the Government would be providing an extra £15 billion in defence funding came tragically too late to save this extra-curricular aspect of the Royal Marines' operations. Enquires a week prior revealed that they'd been able to recruit precisely zero players; and given that we had just 13 nominally available (not accounting for injury-related attrition) we couldn't even countenance an internal game.
